Linux for India
Objective:
- Showcase the capabilities of Linux for i18n and l10n
- Linux console and Indianization
- Desktop/GUI enviornments and Indianization
- Increase awareness about need to localize Linux to Indian languages
Target Audience:
- General public
- Companies and Developers
- Current and Would be open source developers
Demo Lineup:
- Multilingual Linux system
- Indianized Linux console
- Indianized GUI applications
As of now
- GtkICQ (I18nized and auto adapting - C Hanish Menon)
- GEdit
- GFtp
- GnomeMsg (Nick hill)
Total no. of machines:
- 1 Intel machines
- Other machines in the network having Indianized apps
Hardware Config:
- A Celeron or PII
- 64MB RAM Preferred
Network Config:
- The machine should be on the network
Floor space required:
- Enough Space for 1 machines.
- Ample standing place for visitors and 2 volunteers
Power Requirements:
- Power for at least 1 Machine
- Energizers for atleast 2 volunteers :-)
Handout material for interested visitors:
- I18n and L10n support in linux
- Issues when localizing to Indian languages
Poster designs:
- Linux penguin surrounded by Indian scripts along with a punchline after
discussion
Volunteer Requirements:
- People with basic knowledge of Linux and its Desktop enviornments
- People who can talk about I18n, L10n and Indianization issues
